Answers to Your Frequently Asked CBD, THC, & Hemp Questions

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis. While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. While CBD is a component of marijuana (one of hundreds), by itself it does not cause a “high.” According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

CBD users have found that the optimum dosage varies based on conditions such as body weight, purpose for taking CBD, and your own internal endocannabinoid system responsiveness. Recommendations are to consult your physician.

What is hemp extract?

Hemp extract is an oil derived from the flower and plant material of the industrial hemp plant. This oil can be used for a variety of purposes, the most popular being consumed as a wellness supplement for the cannabinoids, phytocannabinoids, Cannabidiol (CBD) and more.

Hemp is legally defined as containing less than 0.3% THC.

CBD FAQs

Cannabinoids are a group of compounds produced by hemp along with other plants in the same family. This group of naturally occurring compounds impact the body’s natural immune and nervous system.  Your body contains an endocannabinoid system that interacts with the cannabinoid compounds. This interaction supports healthy cell and immune system function. The endocannabinoid system supports numerous biological responses including:

  • Energy and Balance
  • Immune Function
  • Memory
  • Metabolism
  • Sleep
  • Anxiety

This depends on many of the factors discussed in the dosing guidance and the type of CBD that is being consumed or administered. For most, sub-lingual (under the tongue) user effects are noticed within 30 minutes.

No. Hemp is legally defined as containing less than 0.3% THC. Workman’s Relief takes additional steps to remove THC, and tests to confirm it is not detected in our CBD product. Take a look at our independent tests: https://workmansrelief.com/product-information/

Yes! In general there are few terms that widely used in the industry.

  • Hemp Oil/CBD Oil: These two terms are used interchangeably and refer to supplements that have CBD and other minor cannabinoids in a concentrated form. These are primarily derived from hemp flower and leafy material.
  • Hemp Seed Oil: This is different from Hemp Oil and CBD Oil due to the oil coming from Hemp Seeds. In this case, very trace amounts of CBD and other cannibinoids are present compared to Hemp Oil and CBD Oil.

Workman’s Relief  offers both Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum products. The differenct between these 2 products is the amount of THC that is present. Full Spectrum products offer the full range of cannabinoids including THC up to 0.3% by weight. Broad Spectrum products offer the same full range, but the THC has been remediated from the product to <0.05%. While neither product is intended to get you ‘high’, the Full Spectrum product allows for a more complete entourage effect with many customers happy with the feeling of relief.

The truth is CBD will not appear on drug tests because drug tests do not attempt to identify CBD – or cannabidiol.  CBD is not a Schedule 1 drug.  However, drug tests do attempt to identify marijuana, which contains THC – or tetrahydrocannabinol.  So, taking some types of CBD can result in failed drug tests if that specific CBD product contains THC.

CBD vs THC

At Workman’s Relief we utilize broad spectrum hemp extract that has non-detect levels of Delta 9 THC for a variety of reasons.

  1. to enable our customers to benefit from the “entourage ”
  2. to maintain our USDA certification, which guarantees natural products (the production of isolate requires non-organic chemicals)
  3. to significantly reduce the probability that our products will result in failed drug tests

What does ‘non-detect’ mean?

When Workman’s Relief products are tested by third parties, Delta 9 THC is not-detected; however, that does not absolutely mean our products contain zero percent Delta 9 THC.  Rather, it means the tests do not identify Delta 9 THC at concentrations that are greater than the limit of quantification (LOQ). The LOQ refers to the minimum amount of Delta 9 THC concentration the tests are capable of accurately identifying.

What amount of THC can I take daily and still pass a drug test?

Numerous studies indicate that consuming 0.39 milligrams or less of Delta 9 THC per day results in a low probability of urine tests detecting THC metabolites greater than the federally required testing limit of 15 ng/ml.

For our dosing recommendations (Table 1), we conservatively assume that Workman’s Relief ingestible products have Delta 9 THC concentrations at exactly the LOQ.  Although, it is likely the concentrations are significantly less.
